Influenza A virus (IAV) infections remain a great burden on the human populace with annual seasonal epidemics as well as infrequent but deadly pandemics that negatively affect both health and the economy. The mechanisms by which IAVs manipulate host cell machinery to amplify infection within the host remain incompletely understood. The Ganti lab is focused on novel modes of viral propagation between cells and how prior immunity shapes within host reassortment and transmission of influenza viruses.
