Ketaki Ganti, PhD- Principal Investigator

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. I have a Masters in Virology from the University of Pune and a PhD in Life Sciences from ICGEB, Trieste. I did my PhD under Lawrence Banks and my thesis was  focused on papillomavirus interactions with endosomal proteins. My first postdoctoral training was with Kanta Subbarao at the NIH studying novel vaccine strategies against influenza viruses. I did a second postdoc with Anice Lowen at Emory University studying the reassortment efficacies of influenza viruses in natural hosts. My long-term research interests include virus-host interactions and viral pathogenesis as they relate to the within host viral spread, and impact of pre-existing immunity on reassortment and transmission of influenza viruses.
